The Gîtes de Bel-Air are adjacent to the EuroVelo n°8, this exceptional cycle route linking Cadiz in Spain to Athens in Greece, via the island of Cyprus, over a total length of 5,888 km. It crosses 670 km of France, criss-crossing two regions and nine départements. Our gîtes have dedicated, landscaped access to this exceptional area.
In the Vaucluse, 49km of cycle route have been laid out between the eastern boundary of the département and Cavaillon. With its smooth surface and gradient of no more than 2%, it's perfect for everyone: pedestrians, cyclists, rollerbladers and people with reduced mobility.
Developed by the Conseil départemental, with the financial backing of the Provence-Alpes-Côte-d'Azur region and the Luberon Regional Nature Park, the Calavon cycle route is a veritable backbone for exploring the region. The Calavon cycle route passes through countless villages, including the main jewels: L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, Fontaine-de-Vaucluse, Gordes, Roussillon, Apt, Goult, Bonnieux, Lacoste, Ménerbes...
A route suitable for all the family
This cycle route offers a pleasant and safe route, ideal for families and beginner cyclists. With a difference in altitude of just +190m over a duration of around 3h and a level of difficulty easy, it is perfectly suited to mountain bikes, electric-assist bikes and road bikes. You'll pass through a variety of landscapes, between lavender fields, vineyards and orchards, while enjoying breathtaking views of the Luberon.
Must-sees on the route
The Pont Julien is one of the jewels of this itinerary. This 2,000-year-old Roman bridge is one of the most beautiful historic sites in the Luberon, ideal for a souvenir photo! Along the way, you'll also discover the charming hilltop villages of the Luberon, offering the breathtaking scenery for which this exceptional region is famous.

Gordes
Rises majestically from its rocky outcrop, offering an uninterrupted view of the Luberon valley. Its cobbled streets and dry-stone houses make it one of the most photographed villages in France. Don't miss the nearby Sénanque Abbey, with its iconic lavender fields.
Roussillon
You'll be dazzled by the red ochre facades that stand out against the azure sky. A former ochre extraction site, the village has preserved this unique heritage with the Ochre Trail, an enchanting walk through the flamboyantly coloured old quarries.
Ménerbes
It has inspired many artists, including Peter Mayle in "A Year in Provence". This village-belvedere stretches along its limestone ridge, offering exceptional panoramic views over the Petit Luberon and the Cavaillon plain.
Lourmarin

Fontaine de Vaucluse
Just a few kilometres from your gîtes, Fontaine-de-Vaucluse reveals one of the most powerful resurgences in France. This mysterious spring, celebrated by Petrarch in the 14th century, gushes out at the foot of a 230-metre cliff in a stunning natural setting.
L'isle sur la sorgue
Nicknamed the "Venice of Provence", L'ISle sur la Sorgue has a charm all of its own, with its canals and century-old paddlewheels. This French capital of antiques attracts bargain hunters and art lovers to its many galleries and second-hand goods shops, which are particularly busy at weekends.
Avignon, city of the Popes
Just 26 kilometres away, Avignon unfurls its exceptional UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Nature and wide open spaces
The Parc Naturel Régional du Luberon surrounds you with its unspoilt landscapes. Its hiking trails wind between fragrant garrigues, oak forests and limestone ridges, offering grandiose panoramas of the Provençal countryside.
The Alpilles unveil their tormented landscapes and characterful villages like Les Baux-de-Provence, a medieval town perched on a rocky spur. Its cobbled streets and ruined castle dominate a lunar landscape of changing colours depending on the light.
Further north, the Monts de Vaucluse culminate in the mythical Mont Ventoux, a limestone giant visible from dozens of kilometres away. Nicknamed the "Giant of Provence", it offers the bravest of climbers exceptional panoramic views from its summit at an altitude of 1909 metres.

Traditional markets punctuate the week in every village. The one in L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue on Sunday mornings, or the farmers' market in Coustellet-Maubec also on Sunday mornings, immerse you in authentic flavours: Cavaillon melons, olives, goat's cheese, Provencal herbs and Côtes du Luberon wines.
The wild Camargue
Just 70 kilometres away, the Camargue offers a complete change of scenery with its wild expanses, white horses and pink flamingos. Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer and its gypsy traditions, Aigues-Mortes and its perfectly preserved medieval ramparts, the Salins de Giraud and their mountains of white salt, make for an unforgettable nature and heritage getaway at the gateway to the Mediterranean.
