The Carpentras market serves as a benchmark for other markets in the region: cellarers (collectors) from eight departments gather there and present their «rabasses» (truffles) to brokers, traders and curators from all over France.

THE TOURIST COUP DE COEUR CARPENTRAS
Since ancient times, Carpentras has always been a market town. The Greeks and Phocaeans came here to buy honey, wheat and sheep.
It still retains its tradition, with its colourful Friday morning market enjoying a reputation throughout the region. Don't miss it!
Other Carpentras specialities include candied fruit, strawberries, melon, berlingot sweets and the grapes that go to make the famous Côtes de Ventoux.
