TOURIST FAVOURITES THE SIX MOST BEAUTIFUL VILLAGES
The Most Beautiful Villages in France is the story of a meeting, in 1981, between a man and a book. The book was the eponymous album published by Sélection du Reader's Digest, and the man was Charles Ceyrac, Mayor of Collonges-la-Rouge. The elected representative from Corrèze found in this work the means to serve a cause that was close to his heart: to unite forces and passions to protect and promote the remarkable heritage of these exceptional towns and offer them an alternative to rural desertification. 66 mayors followed Charles Ceyrac in this adventure, which became official on 6 March 1982 in Salers (Cantal).
Today, the network includes 178 villages in 14 regions and 70 départements. The aim is to avoid the pitfalls of the soulless village museum or, conversely, those of the «theme park», and to reconcile villages with the future.
The Luberon also boasts 5 villages that have been awarded the “Most Beautiful Village in France” label: Ansouis, Gordes, Lourmarin, Ménerbes and Roussillon. The Alpilles has a village, Les Baux de Provence

THE BEST OF 2024 FROM THE GÎTES DE BEL-AIR
Camargue Regional Nature Park
A territory and a public body. Located on the Mediterranean coast, inside the Rhône delta, mainly between the two arms of the river. It covers 3 communes: part of the communes of Arles and Port-Saint-Louis-du-Rhône and the entire commune of Les Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer.
The Camargue Regional Nature Park is a rural area, open and inhabited, with a fragile balance, recognised for its exceptional quality, where nature conservation and the development of human activities must go hand in hand.
